PADI MSDT Program Gili Islands

Dive resort Oceans 5 organizes every month with IDC Gili Islands a PADI MSDT program Gili Islands. The last 3 days 2 Instructors of Oceans 5 did one of the most interesting specialties Oceans 5 can teach the PADI Sidemount Diver Instructor Specialty Course.

Sidemount became the last couple of years more and more popular. It is not like normal diving with a tank on your bank, but you will dive with 2 tanks on the side of you. You are more streamlined, in a case you are also wreck diver specialist and you like to penetrate a wreck. You can reach the valves easy in case of a problem. Your buoyancy will be a bit different but sidemount diving gives you a extra way of freedom.

Around the Gili islands there are a few nice places for diving on Nitrox, Deep Turbo, Deep Halik, Sharkpoint and Simons. Can you imagine if you dive with 2 tanks of Nitrox? You can stay there for a fantastic long time and enjoy the beauty of the coral reef and their fish.

It is also possible to do your Nitrox instructor specialty at Oceans 5 dive. Oceans 5 dive has his own nitrox fill station. It is worth to see how nitrox is filled.

The Nitrox and Sidemount Instructor Specialty can be counted as specialties for your PADI MSDT Program. Oceans 5 has 20 instructor specialties to choose from.

IDC Gili Islands Indonesia with Dive Resort Oceans 5 Gili Islands

The first day was all about dive theory exams. There are 5 topics:

1) Equipment
2) Skills and Environment
3) RDP
4) Physics
5) physiology

The passing rate is for each topic 75%. Except for the person who is doing the IDC staff; her passing rate should be 80% or higher.
Oceans 5 dive resort starts her IDC always with an evaluation of the Dive Theory Exams. The PADI Course Directors like to see how the knowledge of the IDC candidates is and they will have enough time to brush the knowledge that is leaking. Especially when the candidates did their PADI Divemaster Course a few years ago they forget most of the theory.

Gina did her PADI Divemaster Course at Gili Trawangan, but decided to come to Gili Air to follow her dream to become a PADI Dive Instructor. She enjoyed the island so much that she stayed 6 months on Gili Air. During these months she got a lot of experience as a divemaster and as an instructor. She found work on the island, and is now a dive instructor on a tropical paradise island.

At the moment Oceans 5 dive resort has started another PADI IDC and PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course. This time there is 1 IDC staff instructor candidate and 4 IDC candidates. The PADI Course Directors are conducting the IDCs in English, Dutch, French and German.

The new IDC class room will be finished in a few weeks. It will be a modern class room with all the newest technologies. It will have space for 10-15 candidates easily. The next goal will be another pool, especially made for IDCs. The current pool is a 25 meter especially designed for scuba diving, but Oceans 5 like to offer quality to their candidates. So the new pool will have no other distractions. It will be a 20 meter pool with 2 levels of depth.

If you want to do your IDC on the Gili Islands you cant deny that Oceans 5 has the best IDC facilities. And Oceans 5 dive resort likes to keep this, so every time Oceans 5 is listening to the candidates how Oceans 5 can improve.

strong>Bradycardia (Slow Heart Rate)

What is bradycardia?

Having bradycardia means that your heart beats very slowly. For most people, a heart rate of 60 to 100 beats a minute while at rest is considered normal. If your heart beats less than 60 times a minute, it is slower than normal.

A slow heart rate can be normal and healthy. Or it could be a sign of a problem with the hearts electrical system camera.

For some people, a slow heart rate does not cause any problems. It can be a sign of being very fit. Healthy young adults and athletes often have heart rates of less than 60 beats a minute.

In other people, bradycardia is a sign of a problem with the heartss electrical system. It means that the heart’s natural pacemaker is not working right or that the electrical pathways of the heart are disrupted. In severe forms of bradycardia, the heart beats so slowly that it does not pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. This can cause symptoms and can be life-threatening.

Men and women age 65 and older are most likely to develop a slow heart rate that needs treatment. As a person ages, the electrical system of the heart often does not function normally.

What causes bradycardia?

Bradycardia can be caused by:
* Changes in the heart that are the result of aging.
* Diseases that damage the heart’s electrical system. These include coronary artery disease, heart attack, and infections such as endocarditis and myocarditis.
* Conditions that can slow electrical impulses through the heart. Examples include having a low thyroid level (hypothyroidism) or an electrolyte imbalance, such as too much potassium in the blood.
* Some medicines for treating heart problems or high blood pressure, such as beta-blockers, antiarrhythmics, and digoxin.

What are the symptoms?

very slow heart rate may cause you to:
* Feel dizzy or lightheaded.
* Feel short of breath and find it harder to exercise.
* Feel tired.
* Have chest pain or a feeling that your heart is pounding or fluttering (palpitations).
* Feel confused or have trouble concentrating.
* Faint, if a slow heart rate causes a drop in blood pressure.

Some people don’t have symptoms, or their symptoms are so mild that they think they are just part of getting older.

PADI Nitrox Diver Course Gili Islands

PADI Nitrox Diver Course Gili Islands Indonesia

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba diving course.

Why?

Because diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no-decompression dive time. This means you can typically stay down longer—especially on repetitive dives—and get back in the water sooner! Especially around the Gili Islands there are excellent dive sites for Enriched Air.

To qualify as an Enriched Air Nitrox Diver you must be at least 12 years old and possess a PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.

By the end of the course you will be qualified to:

◾Decide the optimum gas blend for the depth you are diving to increase your no-stop limits.
◾Obtain and analyse enriched air with a 22-40% oxygen content.
◾Calculate your oxygen exposure and repetitive pressure groups.
◾Understand the theoretical and operational considerations for Enriched Air diving.

After completing the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course with Oceans 5 Dive Resort Gili Air you will receive a PADI Enriched Air Diver certification card allowing you to obtain and use enriched air world-wide.
